After years of us telling clients that straighteners are a thing of the past and that volume and body is better, poker straight hair is definitely going to be a strong seasonal look. This is coming through in fashion, and can be achieved with various hair lengths. Longer layers will also be popular, as opposed to hair that is very choppy and layered.

"Another big style for this season will be the 1940's finger waves glamour as seen on Wallis Simpson in the new film WE. We've been doing this style for a while now but I think it will be really big at formal occasions and events this season.

"We seem to be moving away from the asymmetric look to more of a balanced haircut for 2012. I think this is a sign of the times as people are craving structure in their lives with all the economic problems we are facing."
