A few A-list celebrities sitting front row at a Marc Jacobs fashion show during New York Fashion week is no biggie but when our favourite Stylish Spice manages to upstage Jennifer Lopez then the world sits up and takes notice. Victoria Beckhams show-stealing new haircut had the paps in such a flurry that JLo had to put her arm around VB's teeny tiny frame just to get into the picture.
Sugahfix spoke to celebrity hairdresser Paul Stafford who scooped his third title of Northern Ireland Hairdresser of the Year back in 2001 and a place in the hallowed British Hairdressing Hall of Fame with a collection that feature this very haircut.
"Victoria Beckham always seems to nail it on the head when it comes to capturing the imagination of the general public and this latest publicity stunt is clearly more about column inches than how many inches of hair she has had removed," notes Paul from his Lisburn Road salon. "She has a new collection of dresses to promote so what better way to get the media to focus on her than a striking new gamine crop.
"She is catching a trend rather than starting it as we've seen a lot of girls coming into the salon in the last six months looking for shorter styles and this was really started by Agnes Deyn with her iconic platinum crop.
"This isn't a look for everyone though - it really suits Victoria's elfin features - those big eyes and high cheekbones look even more enhanced with this shape, but there are lots of different versions of this shape that can be adapted to suit most face shapes, softer more subtle versions.
"You need to make sure you go to a good hairdresser, and of course we have lots of fantastic stylists here at Paul Stafford Hairdressing who are all trained up to create this shape (laughs) but you do need to ensure that the hairdresser will work with your hair type and your face shape".
