For as long as I can remember – going shopping in Belfast to the ‘big shops’ in Donegal Place was a major treat! I couldn’t wait to get to Clockhouse in C&A, the haberdashery department in Anderson McAuley and the make up counters in Boots! I have long referred to ‘the big Boots’ in Donegal Place as ‘The Mothership’ and I was delighted to help celebrate 50 years of Boots in Northern Ireland with a product-packed soiree in the penthouse suite of The Europa Hotel.
The room was set out like a mini Boots Beauty Hall with all the luxury beauty brands including Bare Minerals, Benefit, Bumble & Bumble, Clarins, Clinique, Dior, Elizabeth Arden, Estee Lauder, Lancôme, Liz Earle, Smashbox, YSL and of course, Boots own luxury beauty brand No. 7. We were treated to a ‘through the decades’ presentation with the No.7 girls creating iconic looks from each decade from the wide eyed look from 60s through to the contoured and angular brow look of the Naughties. Ciaran from Bumble & Bumble created the amazing hairstyles for each decade. We were also shown examples of the No.7 advertising campaigns through the years, which was really fun to see how attitudes and images have changed.
Benefit showcased their ‘about to be released’ brow range – featuring new products and new lighter shades for us Blonde gals. The new range will be available in Boots, Donegal Place store before all the other counters so hot foot it to Boots on Friday (24th June) to get them first!
At Smashbox we sampled the new oil primer and watched our blogging buddy Rosanna from Silver Brogues get some ‘oomph’ in her hair by Ciaran at Bumble & Bumble. Did you know you could have a styling service by the Bumble & Bumble team in Boots in Donegal Place? When you purchase a B&B product the styling service is free! How good is that? When you need to stock up on Thickening Lotion or Surf Spray get a hair boost while you’re there – so fab!
I had been eyeing up a pretty coral blush in Estee Lauder called ‘Witty Peach’ so myself and fellow blogger pal Niamh Kelly had the blush applied by the lovely Lindsay from Estee Lauder. Our colouring is completely different but the blush was stunning! Julie shared that the blusher had been brought out before and people went crazy for it and it sold out so if you see if on a Lauder counter – snap it up incase it goes again!
We tried out the covetable Juicy Shakers at Lancôme, I showed Niamh the amazing coloured mascara’s at YSL (I was wearing my aubergine Vinyl Couture for the occasion!) and we had great chats with Katrina at Clinique about the lip and cheek oils for that dewy glow. Liz at Liz Earle (not actual Liz Earle but still she’s pretty darn fabulous!) showed us the new summer tint that’s about to be launched and we watched demos of the Elizabeth Arden oxygen blast facial – amazing! Clarins are renowned for their skincare and I’m a huge fan but have you seen their summer makeup range? WOWZA!! A quick touch up of my fave lip product of the moment – Lip Glow by Dior – and we were good to go!
Happy 50th Birthday to Boots in Belfast – and many more!
