Sex and the City 2 - The Sugahfix Gals LOVED IT!

It's over the top, it's totally exaggerated and yes - it is completely and utterly fabulous!

The eagerly awaited Sex and the City 2 picks up two years later where the first film left off. The four main characters Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda now have everything they ever dreamed of during the SATC series and things should be pretty perfect. But the reality of even the most seemingly perfect situation is - it's not always all it's cracked up to be.

But our gals have an adventure up their sleeves and for fans of the fabulous foursome it is worth every second of the 156 minutes.

The back to the 80s sequence is pure Patricia Field genius. She sets the scene with the clothes - and the hair. It's laugh out loud funny - and totally brilliant.

satc2arrivingadudhabi.jpgThe film really cranks it up a gear with a huge wedding scene that looks like the gals have walked onto an old RKO picture set, and Fred Astaire and Ginger Rodgers are about to come prancing out. Instantly, the fashion in utterly fabulous with Miranda stealing the scene in a black studded dress with a plunging neckline that meant I hadn't even noticed that Steve was standing beside her!

Carrie's ‘best man' tux was slick but her ‘hat' was a step too far and screamed ‘attention seeker' but we already know this about Carrie.

Liza Minelli's performance of "All the single ladies" is as hysterically funny as it is horrendous. It's an awful version but yes, it is hilariously funny.

satc2desert.jpgThere are plenty of hot males to swoon over - Nicky Marantino (Anthony's brother), Smith Jerod, a swimming pool full of Australian Rugby players, Samantha's love interest - Rickhart Spirt and I have to say I quite fancied Carrie's butler in the Abu Dhabi hotel - but hey that's just me!

The girls are whisked away to ‘the new middle east' first class all the way and are waited on hand and foot. It's indulgent, it's pure escapism but surely that's what an SATC film is all about? The desert scene is so OTT and insane it's like Patricia Field was given carte blanche to run riot and dressed the girls as versions of her rather than their classic character styles but it is completely fabulous.

The karaoke scene is fun but we were a little bewildered as the song 'I am woman' was unfamiliar and seemed a little 'Country and Western' for four sassy New York City gals.

satc2carrie.jpgWithout running the story for anyone who hasn't seen the film yet - the basic premise of the film is all about relationships (of course!), traditions, and the true meaning of a kiss.

When Samantha indulges in an innocent kiss (honestly!) in Abu Dhabi with hunky Rickhart it turns the girls 1st class trip into a 1st class disaster - everything falls apart. But can a kiss really mean so much?

We won't spoil the story for you but all we will say is - if you're a fan - go and see it with your girlfriends. DO NOT bring your boyfriend or husband - he'll hate it and you won't be able to enjoy it as much.

If the whole SATC thing really grates on you - don't go and see it - don't read the reviews - just let it go. There seems to be a lot of reviewers out there who are just haters and couldn't wait to tear into the film and yes that's their opinion and their entitled to it but you have to take the film for what it is - it's a comedy!

Yes, there are a few cringy scenes where Chris Noth totally over acts, SJP's boobs try to make an appearance a little too often and there are moments where it's all a bit too contrived but it's there to be enjoyed - if you know you'll hate it - don't go!

The fashion is eye-popping and totally indulgent, and for us - that's why we love SATC so much.

The Sugahfix Gals LOVED IT! 5 Stars!
