The countdown has begun and the diaries have been cleared - Saturday night (20th) marks the return of the X Factor and this year promises to be bigger and better than ever before.
I was quite relieved to hear that Sugahfix gals Katrina and Maureen have spent many a Saturday night in constant text chat during the show - as my mum and I have been X Factor addicts since it first graced our screens in 2004.
When I moved to Scotland to study in 2006 we went to extreme lengths to enjoy the show together - spending many Saturday nights on the phone in complete silence during the performances just so we could frantically discuss the performances and judges comments without missing a moment.
I am obsessed with all things X Factor and Saturday night parties are out the window for the next four glorious months unless they involve a big screen and surround sound.
There are a few changes to this year's competition which have everyone talking for months already. Firstly- the change in the judging line-up has fans waiting with bated breath - can Simon Cowell and our Cheryl really be replaced? Dannii Minogue is another big loss as she has consistently been voted the most popular and best dressed judge on the panel/
Leaving that aside- and assuming that Gary Barlow, Tulisa Contostavlos and Kelly Rowland will be suitable replacements on both the judging and style fronts - the X Factor is getting sexed-up.
Simon Cowell et al. are attempting to step up the risqué factor to stop viewers getting bored of the samey format we have enjoyed for the last seven years. While my instinct with the X Factor is - if it ain't broke don't fix it (look what happened when they sacked Louis Walsh)- unlimited booze and the fly-on-the-wall Big Brother style cameras set to show us the good, the bad and the ugly behaviour from boot camp could make for great Saturday night entertainment!
Finally with the gorgeous Olly Murs hosting the Xtra Factor on ITV2 for the first time- at least we know there will be someone to swoon over every week!
Regardless of the changes- the Sugahfix gals are extremely excited for Saturday night and cannot wait to see what Kelly and Tulisa will be wearing- fingers crossed they can match Cheryl and Dannii in the style stakes!
The X Factor 8pm ITV1 Saturday 20th August.
