Culture Night is back and it looks set to be bigger, bolder and better than ever! With hundreds of events going on across Ireland on Friday, 23rd September- it will be impossible not to find something of interest- but we think there are two fashion events that just shouldn't be missed.
For those of you in Derry- Catwalk on the Walls is returning to the City following the success of last year's event. The Grand Parade on Derry's Walls will once again be transformed into a fabulous runway which will play host to all the latest fashion styles and trends as part of Culture Night celebrations.
Creative Director Joe Carlin promises a fresh, dynamic and original fashion experience and one new development is the commissioning of a custom made catwalk along the Grand Parade- we can't wait to see it!
There will be a strong local presence at COTW including collections from Handbags and Gladrags, established local designer Katrina Gormley, and the promising Ronan McCourt who will be showing a collection from his final year Fashion Design course at Herriot Watt University.
If you're in Belfast- the Platform Fashion Show in collaboration with Scream Blue Murmur at the Cotton Court in Cathedral Quarter is also focused on showcasing up-and-coming local talent on Culture Night.
Following on from a sell-out show at the Black Box in July, supported by Sugahfix.com, organisers Anna-Marie Henderson and Caroline Maitland is presenting a hand-picked selection of local designers including Ruedi Maguire, Marie McCrory, Dave Henderson and Kerry Brogan in 20 minute shows running once an hour from 5.40pm.
Anna-Marie is always on the look-out for fresh talent so if you are a fashion designer, artist or band and want to get involved with future Platform events- email her at
