There was huge excitement last night when one of Belfast designer Grainne Maher's pendants was spotted around the neck of MTV EMA host Selena Gomez. The large black and glitter circle pendant with laser cut out profile of a howling wolf from Grainne's Pluck & Devour range was worn by Gomez for her introduction to Lady Gaga's live performance and had all the Sugahfix gals in raptures and a series of hysterical texts and calls to Grainne who was watching the show on the big screen at Ten Square's Ice Party.

One was exciting but when the second necklace was spotted with Selena's final wardrobe change – a gold pendant with long gold chain drops from Grainne's GMM bespoke range – the squeals reached fever pitch!  We featured the necklace in our photoshoot for Proof boutique - pictured below.

"I'm so overwhelmed to see my necklaces up there on the big screen at the MTV EMAs and to be worn by Selena Gomez – who wore them so beautifully – it's just incredible!" said Grainne.

The head of wardrobe department for the MTV EMAs visited Grainne's new pop-up boutique Proof on the Ormeau Road and took several items from up and coming local designers.

"It was such a thrill to have the MTV wardrobe team to visit the shop and they were so enthusiastic about the designs which was a massive boost in itself," said Grainne. "They took a wide selection of items including dresses by Bridgeen Graham, Riona Treacy, Ruedi Maguire and Kerry Brogan to accessories by Rachel McKnight that we didn't know what was going to appear on stage – if anything! So it's such a huge thrill that MTV EMAs have supported a local Belfast designer."
