 The Sugahfix Gals put the first entrants into The Quays Next Top Model competition through their paces at the first fashion challenge.
Just like the TV programme – The Quays Next Top Model will involve a series of challenges over the next few months with the winner being announced as part of Newry Style City in Spring 2012.
At the launch of the competition we scouted a few girls who were shopping in The Quays in Newry and they came back for a model make-over and fashion shoot the following day as part of The Quays Trend Setter Weekend.
It's not too late to enter – you can still enter up until the 23rd of December so get your entry in!!!
But back to the first fashion challenge! We selected essential Autumn/Winter looks from A Wear, Next and Aldo from The Quays and tested the girls modelling potential with a outdoor shoot on Merchants Quay.
Sherryl Murphy, Marketing and Events Manager at The Quays said, "We have had a huge number of entries to date but there could still be someone out there who is the winner. You can see from these fabulous photos that it is a great opportunity and experience for any young person interested in the modelling profession.  Sugahfix.com Editor Katrina Doran is one of the judges and was the stylist for the first fashion challenge:
"Anyone who has thought about being a model but has no experience at all – something like The Quays Next Top Model is the perfect competition to enter, as you'll get amazing experience doing the different challenges so you'll build up your confidence as well as your portfolio.
A lot of model competitions judge you on your raw state as a fresh face and to be honest it's not the best way to do it because even the most beautiful girl or most handsome bloke can fall apart when they get in front of the camera.
It was amazing working with the girls on their first challenge as we could see them transform from awkward young girls to elegant models right before our eyes. I had to direct the girls into their poses – from what to do with their hands to their facial expression – but once they got into it they were fantastic! There's some real talent there! I'm really looking forward to seeing the girls on their next challenge to see how they progress. I have a few girls who are my hot tips but you just never know at this stage!"

The competition is open to both males and females age 16-24. The winner will walk away with a year-long contract with Style Academy Modelling Agency in Belfast and a host of stylish prizes courtesy of The Quays Shopping Centre.
Entry is open until 23rd December 2011 so there is still a chance to be a part of this great competition with regular challenges and activities over the next couple of months to put yourself in front of the judges.
