The Fashion through the Decades showcase at West Coast Cooler FASHION WEEK was a triumph of fashion as well as a dip into our fashion heritage and history. Show Stylist Eve Brannon did a phenomenal job pulling ten looks from each decade to sum up the styles of the moment and have our pick of the best in the slideshow below - we hope you enjoy it!
"As the stylist for ‘Fashion Through The Decades', I wanted to represent the major changes that have occurred in fashion over the last nine decades," said Eve, "While showcasing statement key trends that the audience could relate to. The venue of The City Hall was great inspiration and really set the mood for the glamour and opulence of the clothes I chose to include, such as floor length 1920s vintage lace gowns right through to modern day colour-pop cocktail dresses."
The centuries of fashion included dropped waists and flapper styles of the 20s, the decadence of Hollywood's silver screen starlets of the 30s swathed in luxury to the more prim post-war style of the 40s. The 50s brought a new feel to fashion with yards of fabric used in skirts and a whole new sex appeal! The 60s psychedelic patterns, Mary Quant's famous mini skirts and kinky boots were all on show while the 70s brought bell-bottom jeans, jumpsuits and orange and brown colour scheme (eek!) and the original boho look. The 80s brought shoulder pads, blouson shapes and trashy glamour (we love it!) while the 90s saw the rebirth of denim and the influence of music on fashion from All Saints and The Spice Girls to hip-hop and grunge. The noughties bring us bang up to date with a finale of Lizzie Agnew's stunning Dome Dress inspired by the City Hall itself.
