As we write our thoughts on this week's styling, we can't stop ourselves from grinning from ear to ear with the sheer delight at the result of this week's show - less of a double eviction and more of a double whammy in our opinion. Apologies to all the Katie and Wagner fans, but we think we're back on track now with those that deserve to be there!
‘Nuf said, let's get on with the rock n' glamour... Hitting all the right style notes this week were Matt Cardle and Rebecca Ferguson - neither of them took on the stereotypical black leather biker jacket and studs look associated with rock, so they both gave a fresh and modern approach in varying styles of leopard print. Matt's shirt, from the Upper 5th concession available at TOPMAN, was the pièce de resistance of his entire ensemble. Usually dressed a little more conservatively, it was lovely to see him show his wilder side (although not as wild as his wife beater vest last week!). Teaming the shirt with an understated leather look jacket from ASOS and converse shoes put a Matt Cardle twist on the overall rock styling - nicely done Miss Woodward! The animal theme also continued with his dancing girls in sexy zebra leotards performing their perfectly synchronised dance moves - phwoarh!
Rebecca was every bit the sex kitten, gracing the stage in a more traditional leopard print Cavalli number, tight fitting and utterly fabulous! With bare legs this dress could have been a disaster, but paired with thick black tights and black suede Louboutins it oozed class and would be a lovely look for a Christmas party! Rebecca's second outfit was a little edgier and maybe a little too harsh for her, but it fitted in with the theme very well. We think Katie looked more rock-like in previous weeks than she did at the weekend, her dress was a little too feminine for rock, but we loved her Markus Lupfer leggings.
Cher's softer styling will have won her fans among the teens and tweens, but the jacket worn in her second performance we think might have been borrowed from Paije's wardrobe - uncanny similarities to his outfit in the first week!
Mary didn't pull off the Harem pants at all... her top and jacket were fine but would have looked much better had she been wearing black skinny jeans with a nice high heel to elongate her legs and to give her some height. Her hair was lovely on night 2 - much less severe than on previous weeks.
Ironically One Direction just didn't know which way they were going - it seems to us the stylists got the outfits the wrong way around - their first look was too preppy for rock and then during the ballad they wore their rock leathers? More like No Direction in terms of their style choice - although we do love the boys and think they'll make the final.
Dannii of course was stunning on both Saturday and Sunday night. On Saturday in particular she wore a beautiful festive red asymmetric Carla Zampatti dress with Sergio Rossi pumps. Her make up was glitter perfect and her eyes looked super blue. Cheryl rocked both nights in gold shimmering dresses (although Sunday night was our fave). Pucci and Gianfranco Ferre were the designers of choice, and thank goodness the berry red extensions have been ditched for a much more natural mid length brunette - très chic!
