This weekend was a festival of no colour. With varying hues of grey, black and white there was nothing much which stood out in terms of style, and what a disappointment for a semi-final!
The Black Eyed Peas made up for the lack of colour however in their retro primary coloured graphics and outfits - bizarre but amusing to watch; what were the boxes on heads all about?!
With no one jumping out as the style leader, let's start with Rebecca who donned the stage in a Giambattista Valli wine coloured full length dress (the only hint of colour amongst the semi-finalists).
And although she stayed static on stage for this number (with a wee bit of movement in her first, club classic tune - and we liked the mirrored dress for that tune too), it does show that she needs no frills and thrills to keep her in the competition.
As everyone knows of course, crooner Wagner (when he was still jokingly a contender) required lots of stage production to distract from his lack of talent, so the simple styling and easy choreography speaks volumes for shy Rebecca.
Oh and we almost forgot her sparkly statement jewellery, it framed her face beautifully! That would make any gal want to run to the antique jewellery department or browse the new Fantasy range at Lunn's.
And speaking of framing her face, we would love to see some movement in her hair for the final, as she seems to have a fab barnett under all those high buns!
Cher produced two completely different styles for both performances - she brought back 80's power dressing for the first song (which we had mixed opinions on at Fashion Pharmacy) and then we couldn't see past the cream, leather, lace up, over the knee hooker boots which were shamefully Louboutins!!
They did not do her any favours, although the natural make up brought it down a key or two if you know what we mean! Ok, enough of being vague - she looked slightly hooker-ish!

Although we were backing Mary with our true ‘love of the Irish' support, we could not handle any more black chiffon! There's only so much a gal can handle and I think we'd reached our quota. Yes, the girl is big, but black chiffon is good option for a stylist, we would love to have seen her in more colour and something a little more modern. But for now, that's the end.
Continuing the black and white theme was Matt Cardle who wasn't dished with the most stylish outfit - the white shirt with black motif was a little less Viktor & Rolph and a little more Jack and Jones.
We did love his tan leather Grenson brogues - these should be a staple item in any man's wardrobe! Look no.2 wasn't a whole heap better, we liked his ASOS shirt, but overall it just seemed unfinished.
Advice to all men, always wear a belt with a tucked in shirt, it brings the whole outfit together!
Last but by absolutely no means least, One Direction were back on track in the right direction in terms of group styling.
We're suckers at Fashion Pharmacy for a matching look, so it was a feast for our eyes to see the lads expressing their individual styles, yet looking like a real pop group - reflecting not only their fusion in terms of styling, but also in terms of becoming a tight knit pop group who are ready to make it in the music industry.
Simon Cowell clearly wore the same suit and shirt for two nights running, the naughty boy! Louis wore the aging bow tie again on Sunday night, obviously he wasn't annoyed that Cher had nicked one of his for the show the night before! Cheryl, as usual, was wearing skirts that were on the tarty side of short, yet Dannii was demure in her revealing yet classy, transparent and structured dresses on both nights - bringing underwear as outerwear forward in another of her statement styles.
In unusual form (it's the penultimate week, so we're allowed!), let's slip and slide over to the Xtra Factor show for a moment to compliment the elegant Konnie Huq who was wearing our favourite party dress for this season, the glittering ‘Samantha' by French Connection. Already flying off the shelves as a must-have, (and worn first in NI by Fashion Pharmacy's director Cathy Martin at FASHIONWEEK), this dress can now be picked up with an extra 20% off as the Christmas sale begins in the Cornmarket store.
We cannot wait for the final next week and hopefully it will bring with it a host of fabulous fashion for us to get our teeth stuck into.
