Sugahfix had an exclusive invite to see the new Spring/Summer 2011 collection from New Look in London recently.

So here's what to look out for the new season, plus the trends you already have in your wardrobe that you can carry over into spring.

It may not seem like it now, with the ferocious winter weather making us feel all gloomy, but we'll soon be bursting forth in a plethora of blossoms and buds.

Floral prints, which have proved surprisingly popular even in the midst of winter, will be in abundance come spring, featured on everything from shoes and outsize jewellery to summery handbags and winsome party frocks.

We're also loving what New Look is doing with candy brights and colour blocking (wearing chunks of single, pattern-free, colours broken up with either white or other bold shades), so be prepared to see lots of candyfloss pinks, sparkling aquas, electric blues, jazzy reds and sunshine yellows.

Spring and summer will be all about having fun with fashion, in cute retro-inspired separates, either referencing the flirty 1950s in patterned A-line skirts, or the wacky '80s, with string vests and jaunty stripes.

newlook-aNew Look is also focusing on white for next season, whether in classic tailored pieces, such as wide leg trousers worn with slim-line blazers, or in sports-influenced attire.

And cute detailing, such as scallop edging on shorts, fringing on handbags and sequin embellishments on tops will add an extra head-turning appeal.

The 1970s have also proved to be hugely influential in the new collection - those white wide leg trousers can also be found in polka dot prints and single-colour jewel shades.

It's a Love Story-meets-Studio 54 vibe, with boot-cut flares teamed with over-size blouses, head scarves and wide brimmed hats.

We haven't seen the back of jumpsuits either - despite their awkwardness when it comes to nipping to the ladies room, the fashion pack can't get enough of them, and next year we'll find them in all manner of adorable floral prints.

Gossip Girl continues to influence the preppy look, with collegiate-theme argyle twin sets, pleated gym-style skirts and soft cotton cable knit jumpers.

Our favourites from the S/S collection are without doubt those wide-leg trousers and halterneck jumpsuits for a touch of catwalk glamour at high street prices - we can't wait to get our hands on them.

We'll also be stocking up on playful gingham tops, unstructured embroidered bolero jackets (next season's alternative to the humble-but-handy cardigan) and floral print platform wedge shoes.
