While we're still loving all that spring/summer fashion has to offer, we've always looking ahead to what's on the style radar.

So when an invitation popped into our inbox, we jumped at the chance to preview New Look's Autumn/Winter collection at a fashionista-studded press day in London recently.

Mingling with the city's fashion set, glass of champagne in hand, who should we bump into but model, actor and ex-squeeze of Jennifer Aniston and Cameron Diaz - Paul Sculfor.

He was looking tall, tanned and very suave, while this Sugahfix gal's legs turned to jelly! We had to take a minute to remind ourselves that we were there for the fashion!

So what has New Look got in store for us come autumn?

Well, lovers of vintage will be pleased to know that the past has been plundered for inspiration and, by winter, we'll all be looking like extras out of House of Eliott, that's when we're not rocking a Studio 54 or 60s Modernist vibe.

New Look's Age of Nostalgia collection, in particular, heralds a return to a very 1930s pre-war type of dressing decadence in which retro-inspired prints, both botanical and bird, sit with tailored drop-waist coasts.

newlook-e"The look is ladylike heritage," says a New Look fashion expert, "which is carried through to the pussy-bow blouses, equestrian bags and brogued heels."

For evening elegance, think flapper-meets-prom-queen, with an abundance of ornate beading, delicate pleating and encrusted sequins in a look that the label is calling Cocktail Bird.

The cape will be a fashion fixture this Autumn again, carried over from last year, as will knee-length skater skirts and the vintage-look tea dress.

But one of the stand-out pieces for Sugahfix was the white faux fur coat at £54.99 - we can see this being teamed with just about every item in our wardrobe, from skinny jeans to party frocks.

New Look's Limited collection is another triumph of retro styling, with the 1920s injecting a huge dose of glamour, frivolity and femininity into the range.

Flapper dresses are the hero items in this collection, but look out too for wide legged print trousers and (yay) the ever-reliable kimono.

The kimono has proved to be the fashion fail-safe of the past year - a chic alternative to the cardie and just as comfortable too, while being ten times more flattering.

Once we wear out our summer frocks, we'll know where to stock up for the following season.
