The colour-blocking trend continues for Autumn/Winter but in warmer, richer colourways. Primary colours morph into jewel brights for a punchy effect - not for the faint hearted!
Red softens to claret; yellow warms up to mustard, cobalt blue cools down to kingfisher and deepens to French navy – ooh la la!
If you love the idea of a pop of colour but like to be a little more subtle with your style – add some oomph to your neutrals with a single colour pop in your accessories. Glossy red, claret or burgundy will instantly lift a simple black, taupe or cream outfit.
We loved this colour panel scarf from River Island – a great way to add warmth and a little colour – in a super soft cosy scarf.
Pussycat bows are simply essential this season for a Mad Men fashion fix.
Red shoes, bag and bangles can be mixed and matched to rev up the red. You don’t need to bring red into your make-up look although if you suit a red lip – then go for it. A glossy red nail would be fabulous!

The same rules apply to clash block colours as boldly as you dare, or opt for soft and subtle with a single pop of colour against a neutral base of cream, taupe or black.
If you're happy to go crazy with colour-blocking- there are plenty of items around right now that are sure to make you stand out from the crowd.
Confident and sassy – a faux fur leopard print coat will cosy up any autumn look and acts like a neutral against this bold colour-blocked base. A statement cocktail ring is a great way to add an extra layer to your colour blocked look and pull the whole look together. This crystal stone ring from River Island is a designer double at a fraction of the price.
Coloured tights are a brilliant way to dip your toe in the trend. Wear under your denim shorts for an instant flash of colour.

Navajo is another big trend for AW11 and can be mixed in with colour blocking if you match the colours exactly. Beaded detail on the belt and bag add just the right amount of patter and detail to break up the solid colours.
The bright duffle coat is sure to add an instant style smile on a gloomy winter morning. Cosy to wear and practical with the hood – duffle coats with faux fur trimmed hoots and super cute pom-poms are a girlie twist on the parka trend.
“That’s so cute!” is the look we’re going for here with the neat little cardi from Dunnes – we love! Polka dot and with cute little bows on the pocket – this cardi has a 50s feel. Wear over a circle skirt dress for a vintage look.
