By Andrea McVeigh.

All eyes were on Giles Deacon at the launch of New Look's Spring/Summer collection in London recently.

But, even though Sugahfix swooned over the trendy designer - who was there to showcase his debut menswear range for the label - we composed ourselves enough to take note of the trends New Look will be offering this spring.

Here's what the High Street hottie has in store for us this season.

Shoes - as always, New Look leads the way when it comes to statement shoes. There were red platforms with blue and white piping alongside Seventies-style patterned wedges while the gladiator looks set to stay for another season, in flats as well as boots boasting killer heels.

Anchor motifs - they popped up on everything from broaches to sweaters in nautical red, white and navy, adding a literal touch to the concept of a pre-season 'cruise' collection.

Sequins - are for life, not just for Christmas, so be prepared to dazzle in sparkly party dresses.

nulookfolk300.jpgFolk - New Look really rocks this trend for spring, with plenty of floaty peasant tops and paisley print dresses.

Prints - these were big news, boasting birds, Seventies patterns, nautical scenes and 1960s-inspired prints on shift dresses.

Fringing - you won't be able to get away from it, with fringes popping up on suede handbags in lush jewel colours, such as purple, turquoise, royal blue and cerise.

Maxi dresses - 2009 will be a summer of love with long tiered dresses sporting lilac, pink and navy colour blocks. Look out for the statement black maxi dress with a dramatic poppy print.

Chanel-style - channel your inner Coco with a boxy tribute jacket in purple with silver studding detail.

Accessories - rings sporting fabric flowers and butterflies, heart-shaped sunglasses and pretty corsages added a dash of fun to New Look's fab new season accessories range.
