Proof-Polaroids-5By Katrina Doran.

Photographer and musician Neil Kerr captured some stunning behind the scenes images at the launch of Proof pop-up boutique using a vintage Polaroid camera.

While we're so used to being able to look at photos as we take them on digital cameras – but Polaroid was the first instant photograph and still hold s special magic for capturing moments as only film cameras can.

"I have always used vintage Polaroid cameras because for me nothing quite matches the tones and magic of Polaroid film," said photographer Neil Kerr.

"When using expired Polaroid film there is an element of surprise and excitement that just doesn't exist in other photography due to the fact that at times you get chemical burns and streaks across the film which, yes can ruin your shots at times but sometimes they take your image to a whole other place. I love the fact that it is unpredictable in this sense. I also kind of like the fact that it can be awkward and frustrating to use at times because it forces you to focus your attention on what you want to capture beforehand and has taught me so much about really visualizing what I want to capture."

The photos were taken at Ciara Daly's eye-popping make-up studio on the Lisburn Road, and at Proof Boutique on Jameson Street, just off the Ormeau Road.
