Sumptuous jewel colours, swirling prints and on-trend lace and leather dominated the Candy Plum catwalk collection at Belfast FASHIONWEEK.

The gorgeous halter-neck evening dress with its swirling purple and black print from American designer Tony Bowls reminded us of classic Pucci and was one of the highlights of this season's collection. It was clear to see that his motto is 'don't just be better... be the best'.

Eye-catching evening dresses that sparkled and shone were just one feature of the show, which also featured plenty of soft leathers and hip lace, two major trends for this season which will carry into spring/summer. Golds, purples and gun metal grey provided the palette, proving that colour is vital when it comes to this season's party wear.

Italian designer Elisa Cavaletti's premier Crystal Collection offered classic styling in yet more vibrant hues

Another stand-out outfit was the fashion-forward yet sophisticated cream lace dress from Whitney Eve - created by The Hills star Whitney Port. She has come up with a stunning collection of opulent, classy day wear, with more must-haves expected for spring 2011.

Candy Plum of Hillsborough, from mother-and-daughter team Lynne and Zara Beggs, is the exclusive stockist for Whitney Eve in Northern Ireland, as well as other labels including those from Australian designer label Shakuhachi and Indian designer Manish Arora, known as the John Galliano of India and famous for his eye-popping brights and dramatic shaping.

Jessie White is behind the Shakuhachi label, and she brings love of art and fashion to bear when creating a collection that's bursting with vintage and geometric influences - we loved seeing her animal-print skinny leg jeans teamed with a fitted leather jacket on the catwalk.
