Grounded Sandwich Bar in Belfast is offering the best "free" breakfast in the city on Friday October 9 in order to raise funds for a cancer charity.

Anyone coming in to Grounded, in The Jeanery, on Boucher Crescent between 9am and 1pm will be treated to a gourmet free Ulster fry if they give £5 to go to the Friends of the Cancer Centre at Belfast City Hospital on the day.

Owner of the cafe, Graeme Finegan, explains: "I used to work as a radiotherapist at the City and the Friends of the Cancer Centre is very close to my heart. They do such amazing work to support cancer patients and their families that I really wanted to do something to help."

"The best way to get people to donate is to give them something that they want in return and that's why we decided to hold The Grounded Big Breakfast on October 9. Our chefs will be cooking up diamond award winning sausages, bacon, eggs, tomato, toast/farl and tea/coffee - and every penny raised on the day will go directly to the charity. We think we have the best breakfast in the city and now the public can sample it free and help cancer patients in Northern Ireland," he added.

Friends of the Cancer Centre is a Northern Ireland Charity working for local people. It is based at the heart of the new Cancer Centre at Belfast City Hospital and puts all money raised directly back into the centre for continuing care, treatment and support of cancer patients and their families throughout Northern Ireland.

Over the next 5 years Friends will focus on patient care and comfort, research and purchasing new medical equipment.
