I’m a huge fan of Jane Iredale. I’ve tried and tested lots of make-up primers but the one I repeatedly buy is Jane Iredale’s Smooth Affair primer and brightener. The mineral powder foundation is always in my make-up bag as use it as a finishing powder to airbrush away blemishes and I carry the compact powder in my handbag for touch ups during the day. I’m definitely a Jane Iredale gal! So when they’re new collection came out with a lipstick called Katerina – I thought, “this was made is for me!”
The Pure Moist lipstick (£19) is a matt mahogany rose that can be applied quite sheer for a hint of a berry lip, or right out the barrel for a bang on-trend ‘modern Goth’ lippy look. It’s the perfect make-up update for winter lips. Being Jane Iredale there are extra benefits of soothing moringa oil and vitamins A and C.
I’m also a winged eyeliner devotee and favour a gel liner applied with a brush – particularly for nights out for a liner that doesn’t end up smudged like a drunken panda! The soft texture of Jane Iredale’s Jelly Jar Gel eyeliners (£19.95) feels almost decadent and smoothes onto the lid with zero drag. I tried the Purple Jelly which might sound a bit adventurous but is actually very flattering if you are fair skinned and have blue eyes – It’s less harsh that solid black and also enhances the whites and blues of your eyes.
Last but not least is the Celebrate limited edition eye shadow trio palette (£35). I’m a sucker for a palette and this trio doesn’t disappoint. The rose gold mirrored compact looks chic in your clutch bag if you need to bring something with you for after work parties or just for touch ups on the go.
If it irks you that the base shade always runs out first in a palette then Jane Iredale has solved that issue with a generous sized matte pearl base shade. The golden shade is the perfect all over the lid and under the lashes and the port tone might look a little scary initially but it’s actually the perfect foil for that deep berry lipstick.
Gorgeous packaging, gorgeous products – there can only be one result – gorgeous! A gal can try!
The new products are available individually from beauty salons, make-up specialists and selected online outlets. I get mine from Utopia Holistic Beauty on the Cregagh Road, Belfast.
