Cool and quirky Coco restaurant was the location for a girlie lunch and fashion show showcasing South African womenswear designer Kevan Jon in association with Blush boutique. The Lisburn Road store hosted the designer and his Spring Summer 16 collection as well showing as a sneak peek at his Autumn Winter range.
I took the opportunity to catch up with my Game of Throne’s makeup buddies Charlene Johnston and Judith Lavery who have a few of Kevan’s figure flattering dresses in their wardrobes.
As a huge fan of Coco’s this was an afternoon out made in heaven with a menu of taste sensation food over three courses – divine!
I love a walk around fashion show – it feels more like the original ‘salon’ style presentations in 1800’s Paris. You get to see the clothes up close and get a feel for how they fit and look on the body and with Kevan Jon’s designs they look amazing on body with curves.
All the girls at our table developed a full-blown girl crush on Tiffany Brien with every dress looking phenomenal on her super-toned gym body. Unfort we don’t have any photos of Tiffany’s incredible bum but check out my instagram @Sugahgal for a few sneaky vids. We all decided we need to commit to doing more squats! Can we also talk about Nuala Meenahan (pictured above right in the orange one shoulder dress). This lady is 50. Seriously. 50. She is flawless!
Aileen Wilson, Fashion Director at Blush, said “Kevan’s designs are such a favourite with our customers and he has quite the following now. But on a personal level he is also such a gentleman and inspirational designer who just ‘gets’ women, so we are thrilled to work alongside him”. Aileen donated all proceeds from the day to Autism NI, a charity close to her heart – and to her family.
The Spring Summer 16 collection is now available at Blush and at prices similar to Karen Millen and Coast – you won’t bump into anyone else at that big summer wedding in the same frock as Blush only stock a small number of each dress AND you can have a designer dress that will look incredible and be comfortable to wear. A lot of Kevan’s dresses are customizable and can be worn in different ways too so you can get lots of different looks from one dress – and most can be washed in the machine! We loved the one shoulder dresses, the pink floral print dresses with the floaty ruffle sleeves and basically everything that Tiffany wore – now we just need her amazing body and we’re good to go!
