Being as natural and chemical-free as possible, Green Living doesn’t usually go down the perfume route. Many of them are just too strong and powerful for my liking and did you know that some even contain potential harmful chemicals?
So I was delighted to discover Les Senteurs Gourmandes and – whoohoo – the brand is available in the Marks & Spencer Your Beauty Hall in Belfast!
The brand uses a 100% natural alcohol base (so no nasty additives) and the scents are free from phthalates (which mimic hormones and have been linked to various health concerns, which means that some people want to avoid them.)
With all that in mind, I had great fun spraying a variety of these delicate scents on myself. There are 14 perfumes in four different ‘families’ to choose from – The Orchard (think fig leaves, rip fruits and the aroma of orchards south-west France); Traditional Vanillas (teamed with bourbon, chocolate and the scents of Mexico and Tahiti); Travel Diaries (fresh salt air, wild flowers, spices and Oriental woods) and Childhood Memories (Musc Blanc has been developed to bring to mind the scent of white sheets drying in a sunny garden while Tendre Madeleine was created with an aroma of freshly baked sponge cakes – these two were my absolute favourites).
The beauty of them all is that they wear well on most occasions. In other words, people won’t smell you before they see you! They’re comforting, feel-good fragrances that brought a smile to my face every time I caught the scent.
