As staying in the new going out, for our Christmas dinner - The Sugahfix Gals are going home.
Home pop-up restaurant that is!!!
We're so excited to try out the drool-worthy menu! And as we judge all restaurants on the quality of their chips (it's a great barometer of quality!) we've heard that the 'big chips' at Home are amazing - we can't wait!
Created by the guys from the Mourne Seafood Bar, the 50-seater restaurant has been open for business since October and will run until January with a BYO policy.
Chef Ben Arnold, manager Stevie Haller and crew, under the guidance of Mourne Seafood's Andy Rea, have transformed the space into a new restaurant concept collaborating with ReFound using unwanted and salvaged furniture as the canvas with artists transforming reclaimed pieces into unique, functional furniture for dining and which will also be available to buy. Everything from the coat stand, tables, chairs, pictures will be available for purchase.
Manager Stevie Haller said, "Pop-up restaurants are the latest food craze with chefs taking over underutilized spaces or vacant kitchens providing an outlet for chefs to express their culinary creativity."
Jill O'Neill of ReFound commented, "HOME will take our ReFound pop-up shops to the next stage to sit in an environment with our furniture. The idea of HOME worked perfectly with the ReFound ethos of re-found experiences. As soon as customers walk in, the food will inspire homeliness and comfort, listening to music will inspire memories and furniture that will remind you of your childhood. From the moment you walk in, we've tried to create and evoke a homely sense. The environment will change on weekly basis as and when furniture is sold and replenished.
The menu for HOME has been created by chef Andy Rea of Mourne Seafood Bar and dishes on the menu include "Old school" ham shank and split pea soup, organic roast beetroot salad with walnuts and goats cheese croquettes for starters. Main courses on the menu include Dexter oxtail cottage pie with whipped potato top and seasonal vegetables; cod with wilted greens, roast tomato and shallot confit and polenta fries; local herb roast chicken with Irish style cabbage, potato sauce and bacon bits. While to finish desserts range from oaty spiced apple crumble with vanilla ice cream and warm chocolate cake with chocolate sauce, berries and crème fraiche.
