Well Bread

doodlebread.jpgSometimes it when we're avoiding doing what we're supposed to be doing that we find our true calling in life.

Rose Kane from Belfast was studying at Art College in London, when she discovered a way to bake (what is now known as) Doodle Bread by messing about with dough in the kitchen one day instead of going to tutorials. Once she graduated she decided against getting a proper job, moved back in with her parents for a while and began to develop and patent the doodle bread technique. This led her to winning a few awards for young creative entrepreneurs including a NESTA Creative Pioneer Award in 2006.

Doodle bread is a cool 'make your own bread that doesn't look like anyone elses in the world. ever' kit. It makes bread with shapes running through every slice. How good is that? A star in your slice, a heart in your hunk, or a daisy on your doorstop. It's made from all the stuff that you're meant to eat, the natural on-trees, in earth kind of thing. And it looks brilliant.

Sundried tomato bread is red. Blueberry bread is blue. And carrot bread... well you get the picture. The best bit is you get to mix it, whack it, bash it, prod it, push it, watch it double in size before your eyes. And then eat it.

Pack Star sarnies in a lunchbox for school, serve your loved ones strawberry heart toast or have blueberry striped bread for brekky.

Doodle bread is about getting messy and having fun then eating the results. One in four children aged 5 - 9 in the UK regularly bake. However they are currently being disappointed by the lack of healthier and exciting home baking products on offer. Baking with the doodle bread kit is healthy and gives children (and some adults!) the confidence to get creative in the kitchen.
