Visiting the Ulster Hall is usually something of a big occasion and skipping up the steps in anticipation of seeing a great live gig is usually on the cards but with the launch of the new Café Grand Dame - visiting the Ulster Hall will be a much more regular thing.

Open daily for breakfast and lunch Monday - Saturday (and a great cuppa and scone in the afternoon), Cafe Grand Dame is the new decadent eatery located inside Belfast's historic landmark, The Ulster Hall.

If you work in the vicinity Café Grand Dame should be top of your lunch list and even if you need to grab and go - everything is available to take away.

Breakfast features croissants, toasted muffins, bagels and the Grand Dame Breakfast Bap filled with maple cured bacon, scrambled egg and slow roasted tomato - the perfect hangover cure me thinks!

For lunch - sandwiches, wraps, paninis and salads means there's something for everyone and everything is made freshly to order. Café Grand Dame also serves Starbucks coffee for those needing a caffeine fix.

The Sugahfix gals rocked up to the Café Grand Dame last week for lunch and were suitably impressed with the cool surroundings and the outside terrace for a sunny day.

I am always on the look out to find a great chicken salad. It seems like a really simple thing but rarely found on the menu and in some establishments - the idea of cobbling together something that they have all ingredients for is just too much hassle for them to be bothered but due to a wheat and diary intolerance it's not a choice but a necessity for me. It means the tempting Caesar Salad is never an option so I always judge an eatery on their willingness to cater to requests for something ‘off the menu'.

I asked the waitress if I could just have a chicken salad - "just no croutons, no cheese - but whatever else you got would be great". Her ‘can do' attitude was a great start and my salad - made up freshly with chunks of yummy chicken, crunchy leaves, roasted red peppers, sun blushed tomatoes and olives was just the ticket!
