The Skinny Kitchen is a fab restaurant located on Boucher Road, serving wholesome, honest food that proves an epic feast for the senses. As the name suggests, the team take a healthier approach to cooking- they don’t eliminate calories of course but they are mindful of the quality of what goes into each and every dish.
I arrived for breakfast with my sister and my niece who danced into the venue like she owned it- standard behaviour for an eight-year-old. We were greeted by a lovely waitress who invited us to choose our own table (of course I opted for a window-side table with optimum natural light for prime food photography, ensuring disgruntled dining companions).
I made my mind up within about three seconds of perusing at the menu. I rarely waste time with the hipster elements of the menu, often opting for the venue’s ultimate ‘fry up’. I greedily and valiantly placed my order… a ‘skinny kitchen fry up’ please and the same for my famished sister-in-law. Wee Lucy was happy with a fresh orange juice and destroying the immaculate table with her traveling slime collection.
The Skinny Kitchen Breakfast proved a worthy choice and a delicious plate of food, although certainly not low calorie- coming in at just under 1000 calories. They do however opt for healthier choices such as bacon stripped of any obvious fat, good quality sausages, artisan baked beans, and rustic sourdough bread, resulting in plenty of roughage.
We devoured our food, I even struggled to finish the epic feast. They are certainly not shy with portions- which a hungry girl such as myself, loves!
This venue is perfect for a lazy weekend brunch as the breakfast menu is served until 5pm. The menu is sufficiently millennial and perfectly instagrammable. Expect a delicious range of brunch treats, from an acai bowl to berry and coconut waffles, eggs Benedict and breakfast tacos.
This is also a great venue to enjoy a relaxed lunch or dinner. As the name suggests, The Skinny Kitchen continues to adopt the healthier approach throughout. Highlights include the coconut cod curry, buckwheat noodles, and the pumpin iron chicken breast.
For our brunch date, I used the Ohh Social app which unlocks a multitude of 2-4-1 deals on breakfast, saving us £10. This money-saving app can also be redeemed on a 2-4-1 main course, as well as coffee at The Skinny Kitchen.
You can download the 2018 version of this app for a one-off payment of £5– unlocking hundreds of two for one deals across a multitude of venues in N Ireland to be used before 31st December 2018.
