The Hair: “Our fashion week collection was based around ‘Schwarzkopf essential looks’,” said Paul. “Our take was to show the extreme looks and make dramatic fashion statements with strong cuts becoming commercial and punky! The colour goes from subtle enhancement with the curly looks – using colour to add shape and shading to strong fashion colours for the more edgy, graphic shapes – super glossy and intense tones,” Paul Stafford.
“The models were all real girls who let us take their hair looks to the next level and they totally rocked their new styles,” said creative director Lee Stinton.
The Make-up: Pamela Smyth and the team from The Make up Dept created the strong fashion make-up looks. “This make-up is only meant for the catwalk for a dramatic statement that is really all about putting the attention on the hair. I took the direction from the Schwarzkopf Essential Looks lookbook, which was all about nudes but took the idea of one block colour – either on eyes or lips just for one pop of colour. The orange tone is a custom blend that could work as an eye or lip colour. Everything else was kept nude.”
The Clothes: Sugahfix’s own Katrina Doran styled the show and kept the vibe local pulling clothes from three boutiques within skipping distance of Paul Stafford Hairdressing’s Lisburn Road salon. “The styling was all about keeping the look simple, almost androgynous but tailoring the look to each girl, making sure the attention was on the hair. All the clothes were sourced from Lisburn Road boutiques Fran & Jane, Harrison and Bison.
I wanted to do a really leggy look so the girls were either wearing graphic tights or graphic shaped dresses. Fran & Jane have some fab dresses and presenter Katie Larmour also wore one of Fran & Jane’s mini-dresses with lots of embellishment on the neckline and shoulders. Fee’s ‘Adam Ant style’ lux waistcoast is from Bison who have some really fantastic statement pieces. Harrison’s Domo leather jackets are so cool and the asymmetric dress with the stiffened peplum frill worn by Joanne as the lead model is such a knockout shape – it’s quite Lady Gaga!
