Pubs of Ulster’s Pub of the Year Awards 2013 was held on Wednesday 20th November with a glitzy awards ceremony at La Mon Hotel & Country Club.
The Harbour Bar in Portrush did the double – winning the overall Pub of the Year title as well as Best Charity Initiative Award for their extensive fundraising work for various charities.
In a first for the Pub of the Year Awards, there was a double winner in one of the categories, Margaret Ferguson from The Lakeside in Ballydugan, Co. Down and Maggie McGaughey from The Front Page in Ballymena were both deemed to be exemplary and were named winners in Bar person of the year, which was the only category that invited nominations from the public – through The Sunday Life newspaper.
Belfast was well represented with The Limelight winning Best Entertainment; The Garrick scooping Best Big Idea and The Hudson Bar was victorious with the title of Best New/Improved.
West of the Bann, The Elk in Toomebridge clinched the Best Food Award and The Wild Duck Inn in Portglenone won the Best Marketing Initiative Award.
The style on the night was all about the dress with a mix of cocktail dresses and full length gowns. LBD’s were a popular choice – and always utterly chic. Steal these fashionistas style and pair a strong, glossy red lip with your black dress.
We do love a dress with sleeves and were dazzled by Karen Anderson’s gun metal grey dress – long of sleeve and short of skirt – sequin chic! We love!
We also adored Georgie Smithwick’s strapless floor length gown in pretty peach worn with a statement necklace. The colour is super flattering for her hair colour and skin tone and doesn’t she just shine out in front of all those men in their tuxedo suits? Fabulous!
