One of my favourite hair care brands is A’Kin, which is Australian made and owned. In fact, I’m so happy with it I bring it with me to the hairdresser when I get my hair dyed so they can use it instead of their own brand, and all the hairdressers so far have said they love it too – plus, it smells great! For my bleached-off-my-head barnet I use the lovely Ginkgo & Jojoba Vitamin Masque, the Lavender & Anthyllis 24-Hour Intensive Moisture Leave-In Conditioner and the Ylang Ylang Colour Care Shampoo.
The firm behind A’Kin is called The Purist Company which makes hair, skin and body products that are naturally based. All the products are free from sulfates, ethoxylates, parabens, propylene glycol, petrochemical cleansers, silicones, phthalates, mineral oils, DEA and artificial colours (things that can either cause skin irritations, are thought to be carcinogenic or are considered nasty for your skin and health in some way). They’re also vegan (which is good news, even if you’re not vegan yourself) and, where possible, they use organic ingredients too.
But this is the bit that sounds lovely to me when it’s pouring with rain outside, they’re blended in the pristine bushland near Sydney. I’ll not quite make a pilgrimage to the firm’s HQ, but I’ll certainly be on the lookout for A’Kin products when I’m shopping in Sydney.
The full range includes skin care products, such as body wash, body moisturisers, cleansers and toners, as well as its hair care collection.
There are loads of online outlets selling A’Kin but my favourite is MyPure at www.mypure.co.uk. It’s an online store which sells a range of natural, organic skin care, cosmetic and hair care products, as well as chemical free, natural baby shampoo and superfoods.
I’ll be blogging from Australia, having, hopefully, maxxed my credit card on some fab new Aussie brands and goodies. So keep reading!
