The British Hairdressing Awards at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London is the biggest night in the hairdressing calendar. At Sugahfix.com we’re absolutely thrilled that Sharon Malcolm has finally got that silver trophy her hands as not only is she a fabulously talented hairdresser – she’s a fabulously lovely person too. Having been shortlisted as a finalist in the Northern Ireland Hairdresser of the Year category 9 times – it was at the 30th anniversary of the awards that Sharon was finally crowned the best of the best.
Posting updates throughout the night of the event it was clear that Sharon was delighted to be a finalist and it’s that humble attitude that makes us even happier that she won.
Once the word came through on Facebook “I won!” she announced. So understated! Hundreds of likes and congratulations poured in on the social media site.
We spotted one very emotional post from 3 times winner and Hall of Fame member Paul Stafford who was there on the night.
“Her ‘never say die’ attitude, her grit and personality is a testament to her self belief and a desire to achieve the ultimate accolade, one which she so rightfully deserves “Shazzy ” was surely the people’s champion. From the Denman table where Leisa and I were guests for the evening the feeling was unanimous, justice had been done. The 2014 Hairdresser of the year will be an amazing Ambassador not just for Northern Ireland but also for this great industry. Congratulations Sharon Malcolm – you truly deserve it. X “
We asked Sharon what it meant to her.
“After being a finalist nine times, it was worth the wait to be crowned NI Hairdresser of the Year at the British Hairdressing Awards. The event is renowned internationally as the ‘Oscars’ of the hairdressing world and to be in such esteemed company was in itself an honour.
“My fellow finalists are all incredibly talented and showcased wonderful collections, so to be chosen for what I feel is my best collection yet – Bella – is a huge vote of confidence in my skills and passion for what I love doing best, hair.”
“I would like to thank the whole team at Sharon Malcolm Hairdressing, my photographer, Jack Eames and all the team from the shoot, and of course, all of my loyal clients for their support.”
