Candy Plum Afternoon Tea at Down Royal
Thursday, 19 May 2011 13:03

Best-dressedBy Katrina Doran.

Celebrating its second year, the Down Royal Afternoon Teas added their own unique fashionable flair to the May Day race meeting.

Award-winning boutique Candy Plum located in nearby Hillsborough, showcased the hottest spring summer looks on some of Ireland's top models, while guests enjoyed a traditional pre-race afternoon tea.

Pamela Ballantine was on hand to shed light on the racing system and gave guests her top tips on how to fill in their betting card.

The style at the event favoured a leggy look and chic headwear was worn by the most stylish attendees. Milliner Grainne Maher was looking sleek and chick in the colour-blocking trend.

Franca Robinson (pictured left) always favours a vibrant colour palette and her stripy double-breasted jacket and skirt team with her statement summer hat stood out from the crowd and she was awarded the 'most stylish' title winning the coveted £250 Candy Plum voucher to spend in shop or on their new online store www.candyplum.co.uk

Lovely Lynn and Zara Beggs – the mother and daughter team behind Candy Plum looked sweet enough to eat in shimmering sequins and sugared almond tones of lilac and mint.

Bold colour provided plenty of eye candy and stylish neutrals in cool creams and nude tones were also popular.

Accessorise a neutral look with scarlet red nails for a sassy pop of colour like Priscilla Gonnelly. We also loved Kerri Girvan's simple lace dress accessorised with tan belt and gladiator flats - essential footwear for checking out the paddock and watching the race trackside.
