I may be showing my age by saying this, but my idea of a perfect venue for socialising, is somewhere I can sit down, has a cute decor, I can hear myself speak and most importantly serves decent cocktails (and I don’t have to queue all day and night to get served aforementioned cocktail.
The Sagart, now “The Smallest Bar in Belfast” is conveniently situated behind Castlecourt, tucked away in Chapel Lane overlooking the recently refurbished Bank Square. It is part of the larger Havana Bank Square and yes it used to be a bakery.
The small plates and superfood menu has recently been launched with small plates a mouth watering £3 per plate. I tried one of each of course, they were all amazing, beautifully fresh, my favourites had to be the BBQ Pork Belly and the Sweet Potato Gnocchi, Tomato and Chorizo. And not forgetting the superfood cocktails – guilt free apparently, I tried out the Chia-politan, it certainly tasted like more!
The staff are warm and welcoming, and are exceptionally knowledgable about the food and drink they are serving, as a result the atmosphere is friendly and homely.
The interior has been finished to the highest degree, rich dark woods and luxurious leather. It really is the perfect spot to watch the world go by busily outside.
The Sagart is also the perfect spot to escape from those Christmas shopping crowds, I know what I’d rather be doing!
