Pride - In The Name Of Love
Thursday, 05 August 2010 12:13

pride-aSugahfix photog Jessica Weber swaps her sartorial eye for photo journalism with her evocative shots of Saturday's Gay Pride parade in Belfast City Centre. Even the weather joined in and supported the parade adding a sparkle of sunshine after the morning's downpour - a fitting celebration for our fabulous rainbow people.

"When I arrived at the City Hall all I could hear was shouting and preaching from the few Christian protesters through a microphone and it was absolutely lashing down. Crowds started gathering around them, getting ready to watch the parade. After 45 mins of an unrelenting downpour the rain suddenly stopped just as the parade started and the sun came out and beamed down.

"Hundreds of people had gathered and watched the colourful parade. It was so much fun. The outfits were outrageous and colourful. Lots of creativity.

"The nicest thing to see was that there was so many age groups and variety of people walking at Pride. From 6 month old babies (with parents obviously lol), drag queens to young couples holding hands to Ministers. There was a feeling or real happiness to the day and everyone seemed quite proud to be part of something special."
