Oh My Gok!

lucy-gok-kEveryones favourite fashion god Gok Wan was in Belfast today to launch the Vodafone World of Difference programme to find 500 people who are passionate about putting something back into their local community and the Sugahfix Gals were there to find out all the details and have a little chin wag with Aunty Gok.

Gok has been travelling around the UK, visiting major cities to meet charities and participants from last year's World of Difference and spread the world about this year's opportunity in Belfast today.

The Vodafone World of Difference programme, delivered by the Vodafone Foundation, gives people right across the UK the chance to work for a charity of their choice for two months, and get paid for it. It's open to anyone over 18 in the UK who has the enthusiasm, drive and commitment to donate themselves to a charity. Placements run for two months and the Vodafone Foundation will pay the chosen charity a total of £2,500 with winners getting the balance when all tax and National Insurance has been paid. Charities will also receive £250 towards expenses associated with the winner.

"I'm all about confidence and feeling good about yourself, that's why this programme fits so well with my personal ethos" said Gok. "Nothing makes you feel better than getting involved in your community. The Vodafone Foundation's World of Difference is a unique chance to go out there, donate yourself to a charity and get paid for it! So come on people, get in touch with your local charity or check out the charity matchmaker tool. Apply! Your community needs you!"

People need to get in touch with their chosen charity and tell them what you'd like to do for them. Once they've agreed, then simply log on to vodafone.co.uk/worldofdifference and complete the application form. Entries close on 23 November and placements start in March 2011. For those who want to participate but don't have a specific charity in mind, visit the unique charity matchmaker tool at vodafone.co.uk/worldofdifference. The matchmaker gives details of charities looking for World of Difference placements in their local area.

Look out for Lucy's interview with Gok coming soon!
