This week the hot gossip topic of conversation at Sugahfix HQ was mascara- which one is best for night-time drama, which one is long-lasting for a day at the office, and which ones we do our best to avoid.
Sugahfix ed Katrina has been testing a new mascara by Shishedo and while she liked it initially as it gives a lovely silky lash and really separated finish – she found it lacked the build up of her favourite Benefit 'They're Real' mascara. For night-time wowzer lashes, Katrina depends on Dior Show mascara every time.
Sugahfix gal Claire loves mega lashes all day and night so L'Oreal Million Lashes mascara is her daytime choice with Model Co Fibre Lash adding extra length and volume for a night-time full on dramatic lash effect.
We asked you Sugah gals to get involved and while you mentioned more mascaras than we even knew existed, a few key brand winners and losers stood out.
Jennifer Maloney agreed with Sugahfix gal Claire, "I'm addicted to L'Oreal voluminous mascara, I think it's brilliant!" while Sugahfix ed Katrina's love of 'They're Real' lashes was supported by Yolanda Cooper, "I actually just bought the Benefit 'They're Real' on Saturday and I love it! It's great for a light but long daytime look or you can build it up into a glam night-time look," and Jo Baalham, "I must say you can't go wrong with Benefit 'They're real'". Emma Dee was sold on Katrina's night-time fave, "Dior Show...t'is the best."
Another best-seller with Sugah gals is Max Factor Masterpiece Max, Naomh McElhatton thinks it's brilliant for night-time, while Jennifer Mewha loves to wear it all day and at night, "Just do two coats for big lashes!" Michelle Frances agrees, "Maxfactor Masterpiece Max is amazing, I tested a lot of mascaras before finally being happy with this one. It is a makeup bag must have!"
Clinique seems to be great for sensitive eyes but Maureen Coleman says, "I wear Clinique Naturally Glossy mascara. It's gentle and kind to sensitive eyes but doesn't exactly produce the 'wow' effect." Sonya Sloan thinks Clinique High Impact mascara solves this problem, and says that Dr Hauschka black volume mascara is "perfect for sensitive eyes."
Sugahfix reader Maeve Connolly loves The Body Shop's waterproof mascara, while Sugah gal Donna Mullin says, "I would not be able to live without my Precision Lash Mascara 'vie at home' night and day."
Mascara that doesn't seem to reach the Sugah gal standard for Michelle Frances was the MAC collection, "I was incredibly disappointed by all the mascaras by MAC, I love MAC, I have massive collection, but the mascaras were a major let down!"
Lancome mascaras also got a bit of a slating from one Sugahfix reader. Jennifer Mewha says, "I was disappointed by the Lancome mascaras, I find sometimes the pricey ones aren't as good as the less expensive ones," while Jo Baalham says, "I thought I would love the Lancome range but I was very disappointed with it. It was dried up and clumpy in the bottle after a few weeks."
Sugahfix reader Sonya Sloan was left disappointed by both Dior Show Blackout, "Too dry and clumped" and Benefit Bad Gal, "Again, dry and clumpy." We hope she's found one she likes!
Thanks for getting involved in the gossip gals, it's always fab to get loads of opinions on makeup so that we don't miss out on anything good- and can avoid disaster products! We hope the all the advice from every mascara-loving Sugah gal has been of use!
