Sample prices: Our Cupcakes start at 75p for minis and go up to £2.50 depending on the style required . Couture cakes start at as little as £50 for a birthday cake & our spectacular Wedding cakes start from £250 again depending on size and design requested.

The Sugar Room is a unique cake design service that create mouthwatering confections for every occasion, each one created to suit your individual design and dietary requirements.

John McClean, owner and founder of The Sugar Room, began his career twenty years ago after leaving school aged sixteen and enrolling in the Belfast College of Business Studies.

As a qualified chef, he then specialised in pastry were he found his talent for cake design. During this time, he had the opportunity to further his training on board the QEII, where he worked alongside the Roux Brothers. However, after training under Michelin Pastry Chefs, he decided to change his career-path and pursue Hotel and Restaurant Management, all-the-while continuing his passion for cake design catering for private clientèle. Over the past fourteen years, John has worked for the Michelin Chef Michael Deane in various roles within the Deane's group.

In February 2009, after some sessions with a life coach, John re-realised his passion for cake design and The Sugar Room was born.

The Sugar Room is currently a home-based business and creates breathtaking couture cakes and cupcakes for every occasion and produces spectacular confections seven days a week, some of which can be purchased in Deane's Deli, Bedford Street, Belfast.

No order too big although a minimum order of 6 cupcakes is required when ordering, we also deliver, so please ask about delivery charges.

Orders

As we are constantly taking bookings a minimum of 2 days required for cupcake orders - depending on décor and amount required, 2 weeks required for birthday cake orders and a minimum of 8 weeks required for wedding cakes. Although depending on our workload we can sometimes create 'emergency cakes' at short notice!
