We continue our series of The Sugahfix Gals weddings with Sugahfix Founder and Editor Katrina Doran who married Peter Forster in New York City Hall on 7th May 2004.

NYC-mAs much as I know now that my wedding day was the best day of my life – for years I had this thing that I didn't want to get married – I just wanted to skip all the fuss and just be married. Peter and I were together nine years on the day we got married and we opted for a very simple ceremony in New York City Hall with just immediate family flying over for a few days. There weren't even any vows – so it was a total no pressure day - it was great!

The Dress: I was a total anti-bride! I didn't want to look like a bride – I wanted to look more like I was going to the Oscars – but during the day. So the base of the dress was lilac with a turquoise chiffon layer and the shape was very fitted at the bodice but flared out at the bottom so the chiffon moved beautifully when I walked. I designed the dress myself and my mum is an exceptional seamstress so we made it together which was really special. I also made the headband and bracelet which were both a mixture of clear glass beads with blue and lilac Swarovski crystals.

The moment of the day. Oh there were so many! Walking across the crossing at the front of City Hall with my Dad – I was saying "This is like Abbey Road" just as the photographer got the shot. It was as close as my Dad got to walking me up the aisle as there was no aisle!

Another one was as we all walked down the street towards the park and I was saying to my Dad to take off his sunglasses as the photographer was shooting us as we were walking down the street.

That photo is just such a perfect snapshot of my family (pictured top) and I love that Peter is really laughing at the idea of my Dad in Bono 'The Fly' style wraparound sunglasses. The couple that got married just after us are in the shot as well on the right. City Hall is like a conveyor belt of weddings - there's no fuss - you wait in the hallway until you get called in and five minutes later it's done and dusted!

Last but not least - I'm a huge Sex and the City fan so after we got the photos taken we had Cosmo's in a chic restaurant called Jefferson where Miranda had her wedding reception in the show (and yes Carrie Bradshaw stole my wedding - I knew Carrie & Big got hitched in City Hall in SATC2 when I saw the trailers as I recognised the hallway!) – afterwards we walked down to the Cub Rooms for the dinner and it was just Peter and I, my four brothers and sister in law - they were all in their slick suits and even Ann was wearing a little black dress so and it was like something out of Reservoir Dogs and I was The Bride from Kill Bill. We walked through Greenwich Village and we turned a few heads - even for New York! As we walked past Christopher Street a drag queen on rollers skates went spinning past and shouted 'You go girl!' at me – only in New York! I just wish we still had the photographer at that stage - it was such a hoot!
